This coffee comes from the Baragwi Farmer’s Co-operative in Kirinyaga, Kenya. This incredible co-operative encompasses more than 16,000 farmers over 12 mills, but this particular lot comes from 2200 members of the Nyanja wet mill.

In addition to being certified by the Rainforest Alliance, this co-operative has mobilized its female members in implementing a large scale community project called the “Mount Kenya Project”. The purpose of the project is to engage families in socio-economic activities that will reduce poverty, such as training communities to work with energy saving stoves to reduce firewood use by 75% and decrease cooking time by 50%.

This coffee is sweet and complex, and tastes like marmalade, lime, strawberry and butterscotch.
