Guatemala – San Juan
REGION: Santa Barbara, Huehuetenango
PRODUCERS: San Juan Small Producers
HARVEST: Spring 2016
This coffee comes from the Santa Barbara region of Guatemala where it was made by a group of coffee producers known as the “San Juan Small Producers”. Santa Barbara is one of the poorest regions in one of the poorest departments in Guatemala, so coffee farms are small and run as family businesses, and farmers process their own coffee by using their backyards as drying patios. How a coffee is dried has an immense impact on the quality of the coffee, so in other words, these “small producers” did big job.
This coffee is Rainforest Alliance certified. Rainforest Alliance certified coffee has to meet rigorous environmental, social and economic criteria designed to protect wildlife, soil, and waterways, as well as workers and their families. It’s also Dispatch certified to be delicious.
This coffee is rich and smooth, like drinking hot cocoa in a cherry orchard.
